For nearly three years, award winning documentary filmmaker, Dan Hunt, has been filming most local events and interviewing lots of people to make a feature length documentary about our amazing LGBTQ+ community here in Wilton Manors.

THE DRIVE follows a year in the life of 4 diverse characters as they
chase dreams and immerse themselves in community, while Wilton
Manors is growing and changing. The 2024 election cycle provides the timeline
and the personal stories and colorful events braided together,
construct a visual love letter to this vibrant and complex gayborhood.

He is trying to raise funds to complete the film this summer through this  Kickstarter Campaign - THE DRIVE.  All amounts are welcome and he is offering some great rewards like a Sneak Preview of the film.  Please support this important project and help make it come to fruition.

SYNOPSIS and GOAL.  
With intimate access, THE DRIVE follows a year in the life of 4 diverse characters as they navigate daily routines, chase dreams, and immerse themselves in community, while Wilton Manors, FL is growing and changing.   2024 was an election year and that cycle provides the timeline and structure for the film.  The moving personal stories and colorful events along Wilton Drive, braided together, construct a visual love letter to Wilton Manors and life in this vibrant queer bubble.  

THE DRIVE is a complex portrait of this amazing community as an act of cultural preservation during a time of great challenge and change.

The goal of this Kickstarter Campaign is to raise at least $7,000 to help complete this timely LGBTQ+ documentary.  Over $10,000 is needed and welcome.  The other goal is to create a community of supporters for this film and its community engagement.

This is a film By Dan Hunt.
Director Dan Hunt's past documentary work has broadcast on PBS, ABC, Logo, Netflix, HuluPlus and WEtv and screened at festivals all over the world including SxSW, Woodstock, Frameline and Rio International. Hunt was the Executive Producer of the landmark LGBT series on PBS, IN THE LIFE. Hunt recently left his faculty position at Marymount Manhattan College and moved to Wilton Manors full time. Hunt has been a programmer at the Tribeca Film Festival for 15 years.
