About Us

Real estate runs deep in John Gillen’s DNA. A proud Brooklyn native, John’s journey began long before his first sale—his first after-school job was in his grandfather’s brokerage office in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where he updated loose-leaf binders with New, Sold, or Status-Changed listings. That early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for the industry, and by 2019, John had officially launched his real estate career in South Florida.

Since then, John has helped hundreds of clients purchase and sell everything from first homes and second homes to income-producing properties. He is trained to assist qualifying buyers through Florida’s Hometown Heroes Program, which offers up to $35,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible first-time homebuyers who serve their communities in professions such as education, healthcare, law enforcement, and more.

John is especially skilled in 1031 Exchange transactions and is a trusted resource for navigating South Florida’s updated condominium regulations. In 2023, he became a licensed Community Association Manager (CAM), combining his 20+ years of property management experience with his real estate expertise to better serve both homeowners and condo associations.

He is affiliated with Real Broker, LLC, a tech-powered brokerage with a nationwide and Canadian presence. John also holds the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) and At Home with Diversity (AHWD®) designations and is a Florida Realtors® Faculty member, teaching continuing education courses to Realtors® across the state.

Now based in Fort Lauderdale, John has called South Florida home since 2017. Whether guiding full-time relocations, seasonal buyers, or first-time homeowners, John brings unmatched responsiveness, deep local knowledge, and a personal touch rooted in decades of family legacy and service.
