Photographer Jim Marks shares slides and experiences reflecting 10 years as a photojournalist for The Advocate and OutWeek, and as a freelance photographer covering national events in the gay community. Incorporating photos featured in the Washington Blade and The Advocate, including a cover story that he wrote for The Advocate on the Gay Games in 1986, Marks presents photos documenting community events, including displays of The NAMES Project Memorial Quilt, protests, demonstrations, gay sports events and work for People for the American Way.
In 2014, Stonewall National Archives became a repository for the Jim Marks Collection, a major contribution to the Archives consisting of over 30,000 prints and photos.
